Every year, RRJWC sponsors a series of fundraising events. They allow us to raise the thousands of dollars annually that are ultimately disbursed back into our community. Read more about each event below, and be sure to check back for the latest information as the dates draw near.

All Aglow

All Aglow provides an opportunity to kick off the Holiday Season with neighbors and friends. Join us at 5:30 p.m. on the City Hall lawn, with the lighting of the evergreen taking place about 6 p.m.

A reception at the Senior Center will follow, featuring carols sung by River’s Edge, hot chocolate and cookies, children’s crafts, and,
of course, visits with Santa himself.

The All Aglow Event is FREE

Holiday
Home Tour

The Holiday Home Tour is a wonderful holiday tradition allowing guests to tour beautifully decorated homes within the Rocky River community. Now in our 13th year, the Holiday Home Tour draws hundreds of participants from Rocky River and the Greater Cleveland area. The tour takes place in December and the homes are decorated for the holiday season with some help from local florists and decorators. All money raised from the Home Tour supports local organizations. In the past these included (but not limited to) the Rocky River Education Foundation, Rocky River Boosters, Rocky River Meals on Wheels, Community Challenge/Parent University, Rocky River Parks and Recreation, Friends of the Rocky River Public Library, and The Rocky River High School Scholarship Fund.

Sprint into Spring

In 2002, the Rocky River Junior Women’s Club sponsored its first annual 5K run/walk. It has grown to a huge success with 25 community sponsors and over 200 participants in the race. A number of local businesses contribute food and prizes to the event. Money from the run directly benefits the Rocky River Assistance Program.

Opportunities for Involvement
Volunteers are needed to assist on the day of the run with coordinating the race, water stops, timing, traffic, refreshments, prizes, etc. Committee members also need assistance prior to the event with publicity, obtaining sponsors, and preparing race packets. This is another event in which friends and family can join in and volunteer their time and support. New members will be invited to get together to assist with stuffing race packets.

Sitting Pretty: Painted Park Bench Auction

It’s back! After a break from this successful project, RRJWC is ready to “sit pretty”’ once again! The Sitting Pretty project involves local area artists painting wooden park benches to display around Rocky River. These benches will be auctioned off and the money raised will benefit the Rocky River Assistance Program (RRAP). We will begin planning this event in January 2010.

Opportunities for Involvement
This very successful fundraiser will require lots of involvement from RRJWC members. Volunteers will be needed in the planning and execution of this exciting project. Committees will recruit and work with local artists, purchase and transport benches, work with sponsors, and plan an auction to sell these beautiful masterpieces.
